I'll Pray Anyway

Daniel wanted to pray
Daniel prayed every day
He would say 'I'll pray anyway'
Daniel wanted to pray

Daniel was a friend of the king
Daniel was good at everything
But others got cross
When he spoke with his boss
So they got sick, and made up a trick
And brought a silly rule to the king (they did)
They brought a silly rule to the king

Anyone who prayed to God would be
Seriously seen as odd
They'd be thrown in a den
Before you count to ten
And fed to the lions, very hungry lions
Anyone who prayed to God (it was)
Anyone who prayed to God

The men who saw him pray
Reported to the king that day
The king felt sad, he felt so bad
Cos Daniel was his friend, a very special friend
But Daniel was taken away (he was)
Daniel was taken away

The lions wanted to eat
Some chunks of Daniel meat
The soldiers threw him down
With the lions all around
The king withdrew, 'May God save you'
But it looked like his defeat (it did)
It looked like his defeat

The king he could not rest
Seeing Daniel put to the test
So he hurried out of bed
Hoping Daniel wasn't dead
And he shouted through the den 'Are you there, my friend?'
And waited, and hoped for the best (he did)
He waited and hoped for the best

Daniel then called out
'I'm here without a doubt
An angel of the Lord
With a very sharp sword
Kept the lions away'
What a happy day
Then the king said 'Pull him out!' (he did)
The king said 'Pull him out!'

Then the king made a brand new rule
To be learnt in every school
From this day everyone will pray
To Daniel's wonderful, powerful God
And that's my brand new rule (it is)
That's my brand new rule
